When I Was in Your Life ~ Urban Song

When I Was in Your Life ~ Urban Song

When I Was in Your Life

I am that guy— I am not just that type Who fills himself with air and real hype. I cannot plan myself; I just happen. Tell myself, “I’m strong—I can’t be shaken,” When I fall in love, my heart can’t be broken, And when I pick a pen, I can’t write a love poem. I used to deceive myself: “I’m the one who gives, I could never be on the end that receives.” Stronger than a soldier with a handheld shield— My life was perfect, no place for grief. A definition of happiness? Learn it from my life. Everything was super—“Hii life ilikuwa juu!” Then the best happened: I met you. You turned my life upside down, literally, Brought me closer to love and reality, Pushed me to someone I loved dearly. I became crazy; everything transformed— This world was full—I was never alone. I began watching boring soaps, Changed the place where I hung my phone: From my pockets to always in my hands. A minute wouldn’t pass without your text, A moment of silence? Just thoughts of you next— It was either my mind’s no...

Happiest Birthday Manuu

Image
I am sitting somewhere just listening, Nothing, in particular, the day has been interesting, I have been counting ten since sweet sixteen, I can't remember the day I shed milk teeth, Rough it has been soft at will as I progress, Reasons, seasons changes I am coming of age, New things, new ways I am turning over a new page, It's been a while now, and like time, I keep on going, It is my time on the stage; I am the one now showing, The candles that have been arranged, I am the one blowing, Ammanulah, Emmanueli, and now the Poet, Keep this day in mind and Never Ever Forget, The day is Yours. Happy Birthday.

Kenyan Love

Image
I know I am Kenyan by Birth, Nothing shall ever come between the two of us, Will live here forever 'until death do us part, Kenyan Love that’s what this is all about, Defining Thelastpoet; a poet by art, Kenyan a poet, Shall be as long as my breath shall last, In the line of poets find me standing last, Always say am not least but the latest, Love stories life worries on paper is where I cast, Happiness, freedom is what I do find, In writing this lines quenching my thirst, It’s the only way I tell my secrets,  The only place I find my defense, The land of Diversity we are forty two. This is all about Kenya too. From the expansive waters of the Indian Ocean Through the palm covered sites of the coast, Going up through the woods of Tsavo Across the urban towns in Nairobi, Down the Great Rift Valley, To the new found treasures of Turkana, You can’t stop but to wonder Then move west to Luanda, The land of Magere the great Warrior, Feel the fresh breeze of Lake Victoria, To the uplands ...

A Case of Time, Music and Medicine

Music medicine for the soul! So they said quoting any good song, I never doubt them I let my ears be the judge. Back then Music was soul and songs were medicine. The older the songs the sweeter they did sound, Time has really grown, now 2013 years old, How it relates to medicine I don't understand, Les you disregard old wine tests sweeter on the other end Medicine too has been known to taste bitter. In a case like this who be the petitioners, in the stands lets add the listeners, on the other side bring on the composers, The song writers and the performers, Have them give the evidence just like artists, He said a painter paints pictures on canvas,Let the musicians paint their pictures on silence. Time and music should not be on the case, this is just not their place, they are like freedom free indeed, can’t be proven guilty or innocent, but if you must get somebody else, In medicine we have the testers,it no fair call them guinea pigs, To know how it is we use wine testers, as for ...

Nas – I Can

This is what we should teach our Kids and let them grow with the Truth. [Hook: Nas + [Kids!] I know I can (I know I can!) Be what I wanna be (be what I wanna be!) If I work hard at it (If I work hard it!) I'll be where I wanna be (I'll be where I wanna be!) [Verse 1] Be, B-Boys and girls, listen up You can be anything in the world, in God we trust An architect, doctor, maybe an actress But nothing comes easy, it takes much practice Like, I met a woman who's becoming a star She was very beautiful, leaving people in awe Singing songs, Lena Horne, but the younger version Hung with the wrong person Got her strung on that Heroin, cocaine, sniffing up drugs, all in her nose Could've died, so young, now, looks ugly and old No fun cause when she reaches for hugs, people hold their breath Cause she smells of corrosion and death Watch the company you keep and the crowd you bring Cause they came to do drugs and you came to sing So if you gonna be the best, I'mma tell you how P...
